Getting Married in South Africa

The registration and solemnisation of civil marriages is managed the the Department of Home Affairs. Couples wishing to get married must make sure they are legally allowed to marry and that their marriage complies with legal requirement. On wedding day a couple will need to bring identity documents and valid passports. If marrying a South African citizen they will also need a completed B1-31 form. If under 18 they will need written consent from parents. Divorce/Death papers need to be shown if applicable. 2 witnesses are also required.
