The climate of Mexico is as varied as its geography and topography, giving it one of the most diverse weather systems in the world. One thing’s for sure – you’ll need to pack a good sunscreen for your honeymoon in Mexico. To the south and along the coast the climate is tropical, whereas the northern half of the country and areas of higher elevation experience a more temperate climate. Most of the large cities in Mexico, including its capital Mexico City, are situated in the Valley of Mexico at elevations of 2000 meters and above. This accounts for their year round temperatures ranging between 20 to 25 degrees Celsius. Along the Caribbean coast of the Yucatan Peninsula in the south east, you will find relatively high temperatures ranging between 25 and 30 degrees Celsius throughout the year. These areas are also prone to the effects of major hurricanes during the summer and fall seasons.

The first and most important thing to remember about getting married in Mexico is that only civil ceremonies are recognised as legally binding. People wanting a religious ceremony can have one, however it is not legally binding and those people would require a civil ceremony in order to make it legal. Foreigners are not subjected to residence requirements but will need a valid ID in the form of travel visas, passport, drivers license and of course birth certificate. In some states you will need thorax x ray plate tests, and in all states you will need to take blood tests (usually up to 3 days before the ceremony) These cost anywhere between $100 - $125 Also between two and four witnesses (above 18 years of age) are legally required.
