Getting Married in Malaysia

Both persons must give notification to the office of the registrar of marriages in the district that you want to get married. Prior to this you must have resided within the district for at least 7 days. The registrar will then put the notice up on the notice board for a minimum of 21 days and as much as 3 months. After 21 days they will issue your marriage licence, which is valid for 6 months. In order to obtain the licence you will need (1) Your passport along with a photocopy of the data of the page of entry into Malaysia (2) One coloured passport photograph of a size that is standard in Malaysia (3) Application form Borang JPN KCO1 ( This can be obtained from the office of the registrar of marriages) (4) Affidavit of your marital status.
