The wedding notice written in Greek must appear in one local newspaper or at a town hall for at least 8 days before a couple can apply for a Marriage Licence, and each of the couple have to submit a separate Notice. The documents needed are valid passports for each party, residence permit (if applicable), birth certificates together with a Greek translation and an Apostille Stamp. If divorced or widowed then relevant certificates to this effect. They will also need a Certificate of no Impediment which must be in English and Greek and notarised at the applicable embassy. They will also need copies of the newspaper in which the Marriage Notice appeared. A fee is also charged and this varies from region to region. Documents need to be taken in person to the Town Hall in order to obtain a Marriage Licence. This is normally issued 7 days after submission and  is valid for 6 months.
