Honeymoons in France

Whether you looking for a time of relaxation or one full of new adventures, France offers a great combination of both. Whether you want to soak up the sun in glamorous St. Tropez or visit the glorious French Alps with a history that goes back to the middle ages, France can cater for all tastes. Choose to stay in stunning chateaux, converted monasteries, intimate boutique hotels or city apartments, to enjoy the wonderful diversity of France.

If you're looking for a romantic getaway for your honeymoon location then why not consider France. With regular flights from Canada to Paris you could spend a couple of days in this romantic city before heading elsewhere. Why not visit Deauville in Normandy which enjoyed a touch of glamour and romance thanks to Coco Chanel. Try your luck at the casinos, ride horses, and enjoy the elegance and sophistication which oozes from the charming resort. Perhaps you'd prefer the bracing air of the French Alps for skiing in the winter or hiking in the summer. Annecy is one of the prettiest towns in the Alps worthy of any picture postcard. Chambery and Grenoble are also worth a visit. Wherever you choose to spend your honeymoon in France, you'll be rewarded with fond memories for years to come.

France Overview

When considering a honeymoon location make sure that it suits both of you as a couple. If you're after a honeymoon full of relaxation and pampering, coupled with good food and wine, then Paris could be the perfect honeymoon location for you. Why not stay in an elegant chateau or boutique hotel to explore all that Paris has to offer.

If you're dreaming of a romantic honeymoon with a chance to relax and unwind after a hectic time of planning then Paris could be just the location for you. With plenty of flights from Canada you could soon be climbing the Eiffel Tower for a stunning view over the entire city or sitting over a coffee and croissant just people watching. Shop till you drop along the elegant Champs Elysees, and take in a show at the famous Moulin Rouge, home to scantily clad dancing girls adorned with feathers and sequins. Should you tire of Paris, domestic flights can easily whip you away to the south of France where you could end your honeymoon in France with a relaxing beach break.

Getting Married in France

If you're looking for a romantic idyll at which to get married then look no further than France. The City of Paris has to be one of the most romantic places in which to exchange your vows and with plenty of churches, chateaux, small intimate hotels or banquet sized venues at which to hold your ceremony, weddings abroad in France cater for all tastes. There's plenty of stunning venues all able to help host your reception and with so much to see and do in Paris and the surrounding areas, France is incredibly versatile when it comes to a honeymoon location as well.

Marriage Requirements

France

France only recognises civil marriages although it is possible to hold a religious ceremony once you have had a civil ceremony. One of the couple must have lived in France for at least 40 days before the civil marriage and needs to apply to their local maire or town hall for permission to marry. The law requires for the banns to be published at the maire for 10 days before the date of the marriage and certain documents must be received before they can be posted. The documents must be originals or authenticated copies and include a valid passport for both couples, full birth certificates, and 2 proof of address documents (utility bill, rent receipt etc).  A religious ceremony can take place after a civil one, but a couple will need to provide the certificate of civil marriage to prove that it has indeed taken place.
