Getting married in Egypt is a little complex and the paperwork can take up to 6 days to complete. A couple will need to declare in both English and Arabic that they are free to marry and this can be done at the Embassy of Canada in Cairo by presenting a Canadian passport and affidavit at a cost of around 50 Canadian dollars. The affidavit then has to be taken to the Egyptian Ministry of Affairs to be legalised. Following this the legalised affidavit needs to be taken the Ministry of Justice where they can have a civil ceremony. This will be conducted in Arabic so they may want to take an interpreter. Two male witnesses are also required. For more information visit http://www.canadainternational.gc.ca/egypt-egypte/consular_services_consulaires/marriage-mariage.aspx?lang=eng&view=d
