Getting Married in Cyprus

Marriage Requirements

A couple must apply to get married in person to the Marriage Officer of their chosen district. They can apply for a Special Licence which allows them to get married as long as they have spent 2 working days in Cyprus or they can apply for a normal licence in which case there must b e 15 clear days after they submit their notice of marriage. Documents needed are full birth certificates, valid 10 year passports with at least 6 months remaining, sworn affidavits that couple are free to marry, Notice of Marriage, Baptism certificate (if getting married in church) and divorce/death papers if applicable. The cost of the certificate is €282. Catholic weddings are only legally binding if a civil ceremony has already taken place and will cost €600 including licence fee and services of a priest.
