Getting Married in Croatia

If you're looking for a European destination in which to get married that is a melting pot of culture, stunning scenery and diverse landscapes, then look no further than Croatia. Marriage Requirements


Couples getting married in Croatia can only have a civil ceremony since the shortage of churches only allows for full Roman Catholic weddings to take place. An application needs to be submitted to the registry office of the area in which you want to get married between 30-45 days before the intended marriage date and documentation needs to be sent at the same time. A couple will need valid passports, birth certificates which are no older than six months, as well as the names and copies of the passports of two witnesses. They will also need a certificate on non impediment and a certificate of custom and law which can only be issued by the embassy of their country in Croatia. If they have been divorced or widowed, then certificates need to be presented to this effect. Bot the certificate of non impediment and the certificate of custom and law need to be certified at the Croatian Ministry of foreign Affairs in Zagreb.
