Getting married in Costa Rica is relatively simple and a local lawyer can take care of all the paperwork for you. There is no waiting time but you do need to submit your paperwork at least one month before your intended wedding date. You will need to provide a sheet detailing full names of both parties, ages and nationality, passport numbers, address and occupation, marital status, father's full name and nationality as well as mother's maiden name and nationality. You will also need to provide details of 2 witnesses. Couples also need to bring with them their valid passports, two copies and a copy of the witnesses' passport. On arrival they will have to swear that all the information is correct. After the ceremony a marriage certificate is filed in Costa Rica and another is sent to the couple's embassy in their residing country. A copy is also sent to their home address.
