2009 Holiday TV Guide

by STAFF

'Tis The Season For TV Nostalgia'Tis The Season For TV NostalgiaIf you were to name all the things you like about the December holidays, campy TV specials would probably make it somewhere on the list. Even though you’ve seen them a hundred times, you can't help but feel a little giddy watching those hideous Claymation characters save the day once again.

But with busy schedules and hundreds of channels to scroll through (sigh ... our lives are so ... *hard*), it’s entirely possible to miss your favourite TV Tinsel.

Well, clear off your PVRs - we have a monster of a list for you!:

Calendar of December 2009 Holiday TV Specials (Canadian Edition!)
*

Not included in our calendar of TV goodies are all those Harlequin-esque made-for-TV movies that W loves to churn out this time of year. Only the crème de la crème of holiday classics make it onto this list. Ok, so maybe the calendar includes a few not-so-traditional selections – He-Man, She-Ra Christmas: Escape From Eternia being one of them (and, no, we're not joking), but that’s part of the fun. We’ve also thrown in a few gems from the Food Network and HGTV for those with more grown-up sensibilities.

The calendar will continually to be updated as TV schedules are released. A text version of this holiday list (which will also be updated) is available in Hitched’s Mixed Media Forum.

We hope you all are happy and healthy as you enjoy the warm glow of the television set this season!

*How to use the public Google calendar:
• Click the link and you’ll be shown a monthly view (kind of messy, huh?)
• Click on an individual show title to see the channel
• The agenda view (a tab near the top right) will let you see the listings in a somewhat more reader-friendly scroll style

If you have a Google account, you can press the “+Google Calendar” button on the bottom right of the calendar:
• Once signed into your Google account, you can add the calendar to your own or simply opt to view it by typing “hitcheddotca” in the “Other calendars” section on the left.
• With the calendar selected, you can then search for specific shows and see all listed show times.

When I saw the commercials for this show, I was drawn to it. I couldn't help myself. Something about the absurdity of the whole concept - which they kept as mysterious as possible in the ads - made me giggle.
